This March, 7 Student Parliament members from Venturers' were invited to a ‘Special School Council Event’ at Bristol City Hall. The studnts joined together with student council members from other specialist schools in Bristol for an exciting City Hall tour and seminar.

The students were asked to prepare and present to the floor their personal experiences of being part of the Student Parliament group and to talk about their academy's ideas and opinions that had been brought forward to them that year.

The students also listened to a presentation from ‘The Listening Partnership’, a group of young adults who themselves have learning difficulties. They talked about  future aspirations,  discussing with the children about what they hoped to achieve in the future.

 

After the seminar the students had a tour of the City Hall and it's different council chambers. The trip was enjoyed by all and the accompanying staff were all impressed with everyone's level of courage and public speaking skills, to present to such a large audience and in a large room.
