BMX racing for the students
Interested students at the academy had the opportunity to test ride a variety of bikes over the summer months. Students enjoyed learning BMX tricks and learning how to remain safe on the bikes, both in their protective clothing and using the correct technique.
The students are excited about the local planning to build a Hartcliffe skatepark, which they will be able to use.
On 27th June, Mr Cooke and Mr Martin took the students to the BMX Games Bristol, which was a great success. Jamie, Omar and Junior raced against main stream schools and all won or came second in their heats and qualified for the finals. Raf also qualified for the finals.
Unfortunately there were no podium places for the academy, however each earned a very respectable 4th place.
Well done to Raf who was awarded the Sportsmanship Award of the day - he was very happy with his trophy. Also a special mention to Ryan who was an outstanding team manager and kept the team motivated and all in order.
We are extremely proud of all of our children as they were so friendly and helpful towards all the other children and adults.
