Fantastic news for the academy when one of their secondary students, Saniya Sanil, was awarded gold (1st prize) for Outstanding Achievement at the Engage in their Future National Awards Ceremony. Saniya was presented with her award on 3rd July at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Stratford upon Avon, where she attended with her parents, brother, Spanish Teacher Mrs Morriss and classroom Teaching Assistant Mary Smith.

Saniya excelled herself at the ceremony, delivering a Spanish presentation to over 100 guests as part of the awards ceremony programme.

Mrs Morriss, Modern Foreign Languages Lead at Venturers' Academy said:

After nominating Saniya in April for the National Awards, I was thrilled to find out that she had made it down to the final three students in the country and invited to the awards ceremony.

It was a fantastic feeling seeing her gain the 1st prize (Gold Award) and to share this moment with Saniya and her family.

At Venturers' Academy we really do believe that, with the right personalised support, our students can achieve at the highest level.  It is a team effort and we are all very proud of Saniya and her achievement.

Saniya was full of excitement after receiving the award and did exceptionally well, presenting a piece in Spanish to a crowd of 100 guests. She said "I felt proud and happy I did my Spanish presentation."

Principal of Venturers' Academy, Trystan Williams reflects on how far Saniya has come with her learning at the academy:

Once diagnosed as non-verbal, Saniya has overcome language barriers in more than one language.

Our life transforming education at Venturers' Academy proves that with specialist adult input, anything is possible.
