Students unveil 6ft interactive art project
Students have spent the past two weeks working closely with specialist mural artist, Rory McCann, to create a 6ft masterpiece that is now proudly on display on the main hall wall.
The project, which has been funded by the Venturers Trust Endowment Fund, has enabled students from all year groups to collaborate with Rory to create an abstract interpretation of their educational journey through VA. Throughout the two weeks the students have enjoyed group sessions with Rory, learning how to express their individual experiences through art.
Trystan Williams, Academy Principal, said:
“The mural is breath-taking and the students are deservedly proud of this collaborative piece of work which they were central in helping to create. They enjoy finding their own individual drawings within the design, which overall illustrates how every student is an important part of Venturers’ Academy. Rory did a wonderful job of engaging with the entire academy community to understand our culture and ethos which he translated into the development of the mural.”
Working with Rory on the mural has been an excellent experience. It was fun to create our stencil about our own experiences in school.
Rory's artwork is definitely something amazing to look at.

Rory's comments about the project:
Working alongside the students from Venturers’ Academy has been a real highlight of my career to-date.
Each student has contributed their own unique creative talent and they have all been so enthusiastic and inspiring.
The finished mural is a reflection of how vibrant and exciting the school environment is.
